Several trees in the older portion of Middlefield Road, between 5th Ave. and 9th Ave. were planted about 20 years ago, but most of those trees have not grown much and do not provide much needed shade. Some of those trees have died and have never been replaced. Also, the existing trees in that portion of Middlefield Road do not have irrigation.
The community is requesting that San Mateo County replace all the trees that are missing or dying in that portion of Middlefield Road and that irrigation be installed on all trees that need it to promote healthy growth of all trees and much needed shade. The community is also requesting the County to raise awareness among business owners about the importance of caring for trees and to leave all pruning of trees to knowledgeable individuals hired by the County.
