Learn More — Illegal Dumping

Illegal dumping is the act of discarding waste in an improper or illegal manner; for example, throwing trash on the sidewalk or leaving a mattress or furniture on the street. Dumping trash on the streets is illegal, makes the environment unhealthy, and attracts crime to the neighborhood.

Here are some things you can do to keep NFO clean! You can help keep this community clean by not dumping trash on the streets, recycling to reduce trash, and sending furniture or big items to the Bulky Item Collection from your garbage collection service. For each home, Recology will pick up two big trash items for free twice a year. To schedule a pickup for a house, call (650) 595-3900 or visit www.recology.com/recology-san-mateo-county/bulky-item-recycling

You can also help keep NFO clean by reporting illegal dumping with the SeeClickFix app. To learn more about this issue and to see recommendations from the County of San Mateo visit their web page about illegal dumping and litter. Keep in mind their website may not be updated.
